Tina Visconti Cervone, born in Rome, Italy and resident of Medford, Massachusetts, beloved daughter of the late Elena (Palumbo) and Gillis Bagnulo. Loving mother of Constance, Elena & Leonard Cervone Jr, mother-in-law of Janet Deegan and Nonna of Angelique Cervone, all residents of Jamaica Plain. Sister of Robert Bagnulo of Rome Italy. Aunt of Ilaria, Lorenzo & Gabriele Bagnulo. Also many relatives in Rome, Italy and relatives & friends in the Boston area where she spent her life since the age of 15.
Family and faith were the cornerstones of Tina’s life. She raised her 3 children with overwhelming love and passion, educating them in the deeply-held values of honesty, loyalty, generosity, works of charity, and in the arts and culture of her Italian heritage. Her Catholicism sustained her throughout her life, she was a Third Order Franciscan and perhaps most significant, all that she loved was a reflection of the Divine in her life.
Tina worked for Alitalia airlines for almost a decade, increasing opportunities for travel for herself and her children. She had a particular fondness for Hawaii, the Far East and of course, her native Italy.
Tina had a love of beauty that informed everything she did including her late career as a florist. Music and art were pervasive in the aesthetic of her life and a gift she shared with and passed on to all her children along with her love of nature. Blessed with a green thumb, her plants & garden flourished and she marked the occasions in her home and her children’s lives with fresh blooms. She was a master cook & baker and prior to her illness, loved hosting her family and friends, creating splendid meals and holidays. She will be missed beyond measure, having left an indelible mark on all she touched.
After a valiant battle with melanoma and COPD, Tina passed peacefully early Sunday morning, January 6, the feast of the Epiphany, surrounded by her children, family and friends. She was 78.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in the Paulist Center, 5 Park St., Boston Wednesday at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main ST., MEDFORD. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain.
