Obituary

Sean McCarthy 53, of Provincetown, died December 30, 2012 at his home following a long illness. He was the life partner of Avis Johnson. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of David P. McCarthy of No.Windham, CT and Florida and the late Judith (Moentmann) McCarthy. Sean’s family moved from Maryland to Brooklyn, CT when he was 8 years old. He spent most of his childhood in Brooklyn. All of his life he loved music. As a young teenager he started a band with some friends. He was also a talented artist and a creative craftsman. He loved the outdoors and was an avid camper. He formerly lived in Daytona, FL and the forests of Ocala, FL. For many years he would spend his winters in Key West, FL or on the mid-cape in Yarmouth and Dennis and summers in Provincetown. He moved here permanently after he and Avis met 14 years ago.

Sean lived in harmony with the environment and he appreciated and respected the beauty of nature. He loved animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed spending time with his favorite companion, his St. Bernard Ocala who died a few years ago. Besides his loving partner Avis, and his father, he is survived by his two brothers Kevin McCarthy of E. Wareham and David McCarthy, Jr. of Scituate, 7 nieces and nephews and his step mother Madelyn McCarthy of Windham, CT and Florida. He also leaves Godfrey his St. Bernard.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday January 12, 2013 at the Outer Cape Christian Church 17 Pond Rd. No. Truro. It is requested that those attending the service park on the same side of the street as the church.
