WEBSTER – Walter D. Benoit, 96, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 in Webster Manor.
He leaves his wife of 75 years, Jennie A. (Ondrasek) Benoit; 2 daughters, Janet M. O’Connell and her husband James of Shawnee, KS and Deborah A. Moran and her husband Michael of Webster; 3 grandchildren, Heather Forrester-Hall and her husband Michael Hall of Webster, John O’Connell of Snohomish, WA and Matthew O’Connell of Sunrise Shores, MO; 3 great-grandchildren, Camden Hall of Webster, and Avery and Reed O’Connell, both of Sunrise Shores, MO; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Webster, one of the 9 children of Alfred and Melina (Gerard) Benoit and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Benoit was a forger at Wyman-Gordon in Grafton for many years before he retired in 1978. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and played in its pitch league for many years. He enjoyed outside work, woodworking and country music.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 9, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A calling period will be from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Wednesday in the funeral home.
