Obituary

Margaret “Honey” Mayo, a life-long Medford resident, died peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice on Thursday. She was 80.

Mrs. Mayo was born and raised in Medford, the daughter of the late Maurice E. and Margaret A. (Murray) Diggs. Honey was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who liked nothing more than to tend to the needs of her family.

The beloved wife of 61 years to Leonard P. Mayo, she was a devoted mother to Christine A. Cashman and her husband Thomas of Derry, NH; Sheila L. Lawson and her husband Tim of Dayton, OH; Leonard J. Mayo and his fiancé Peggy A. Stevenson of Maynard; Cheryl M. Perfit and her late husband Joshua of Medford; Charlene McCue and her husband Charles of Dracut; Laura L Robishaw and her husband Mark of Winchester. A loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, Honey was a dear sister to Nancy Freschette, James V. Diggs, Richard Diggs, Maureen St. Amant, Diane Kelley, the late Maurice, Frances, Ronald and Virginia Diggs.

Family and friends may visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Monday from 4 thru 8 PM and again on Tuesday morning January 8th at 8 followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Honey’s name to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
