Vito A. Bracciale, an attorney and wine industry executive died on Wednesday June 30 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital. He was 82 years old. Mr. Bracciale was born in Worcester and resided in Newton after he was married to the late Marie DiSabato. Mr. Bracciale was a World War veteran who served in the Army Air Corps in the China Burma India Theater of operations. He flew many missions over the Himalayan mountains (The Hump) which became known as Aluminum Highway due to the high rate of aircraft attrition. During one of his missions he was forced to parachute from a crippled aircraft. Subsequent to his discharge, Mr. Bracciale graduated from Suffolk University Law School, passed the Bar Exam and became an attorney. Instead of practicing law, he became an executive at the Supreme Wine Co., a family business that bottled and distributed wine and other alcoholic beverages. Mr. Bracciale was friends such well known figures in the wine industry as Robert Mondavi and the late August Sebastiani who shipped large quantities of bulk wine to Supreme. He and John DiSabato later founded a wine importing and brokerage company called Beverage Importers. Funeral from the Eaton and Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre Street Newton Corner on Wednesday July 7 at 10:30 Am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Bernard Church in West Newton at 11:30 AM.
