...well known Tewksbury family; 87

TEWKSBURY - Helen M. (Regan) Hazel, 87, the matriarch of a well known Tewksbury family,died unexpectedly Friday, July 2, at Saints Memorial Hospital in Lowell. She was the wife formore than 63 years of Charles E. “Coach” Hazel, who died January 31, 2002.

She was born in Lowell, August 30, 1916, the daughter of the late John J. and Nellie (Rynne)Regan. She was raised in Lowell, and graduated Lowell High School. She moved to Tewksburyin 1935 to attend the Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her L.P.N.degree.

She worked at Tewksbury Hospital for more than 20 years.

She was a communicant of St. William’s Church since 1935.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law; Charlene and her husband Kanu Patel, Donnaand her husband Richard Damboskey all of Derry, NH, Debra and her husband Wayne Beaulieu ofLittleton, CO., four sons and daughters-in-law; Charles D. and his wife Cindy (Fitzpatrick )Hazelof Plattsmouth, Neb., Tewksbury Police Lt. George W. and his wife Carol (Sullivan) Hazel ofTewksbury, John M. and his wife Lynn (Zehnter) Hazel of Hollywood, Fla., Raymond F. Hazel ofAlexandria, VA; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.

She was also mother of the late MarieHazel, sister of the late Daniel, John and Frank Regan, and grandmother of Colleen Hazel who died in 1980.

Her Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, July 7, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Burial was in TewksburyCemetery.
