MARY E. (WALLA) DUFF, a Hingham resident for the past 70 years, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2nd, 2013 at Harbor House Nursing Center in Hingham at the age of 98. Mrs. Duff was born in Clarkson, Nebraska and graduated from Clarkson High School and the Creighton University School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska and was also a private nurse for a Nebraska country doctor.
For many years she was an American Red Cross blood donor and was an active volunteer for Rosie's Place and many other local charities.
She was the wife of the late Valentine S. Duff, Jr., and mother of; Mary C. Duff of Franklin Park, NJ, Michael S. Duff and his wife Maureen of Pembroke and Mark J. Duff and his wife Geri of Hingham. Sister of the late James Walla,Verna Fielding and Joseph Walla, Jr.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 5th at 10 AM at St. Paul's Church, 147 North St., Hingham Square. Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request.
Rather than flowers, donations in her memory would be appreciated to Rosie's Place, 889 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02118.
Interment in St. Paul's Cemetery, Hingham.
