Obituary

South Lawrence, Lillian Grace Mary (Lord) Christensen, 77 of South Lawrence died Saturday December 29, 2012 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer.

Lillian was born August 30, 1935 in Lewiston, Maine to the late Raymond and Ella (Dion) Lord. She lived in Lowell until she met her husband of 47 years the late Robert Christensen Sr. who died in 2007.

Lillian graduated from Lowell High School and worked at the former Bon Marche Department store in Lowell until she got married.

Lillian was a former communicant of Saint Patrick Parish Lawrence and now an attendant of Saint Michaels Parish, North Andover. Lillian was a 50 year member of Our Lady Sodality at St. Patrick Parish, Lawrence.

Lillian worked for the City of Lawrence Elections working for the past 30 years at the South Lawrence Polling locations.

Lillian was an avid bingo player at the Lowell Elks and Foxwoods and also helping her son plan and run monthly trips to Foxwoods for the North Andover Senior Citizens Center and area residents.

Lillian was an avid Sports fan to Pro Golf, Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics.

Lillian loved to cruise with her Husband and family to the Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada, and Alaska.

Lillian is survived by her children: Daughter Ellen Marie Dorothy Christensen of Lawrence, sons Robert Christensen, Jr. of Lawrence, and James B. Christensen of Newton, NH.

Brothers and sisters David Christensen Sr. and Marion of North Andover, Mary Christensen of Lawrence, Adopted Grandson Victor Cancel also of Lawrence, God Son William F. Healey 3rd of Methuen, several nieces nephews and cousins. She was known to many as their Adopted Mom. A Very Special friend Geraldine Houde of Lawrence, Ma.

Lillian found great comfort and happiness with her three cats Dusty, Sunny and (Hurricane) Sandy. Who in their own way was able to get a smile on her face when Lillian was home. Even when Lillian was in a lot of pain.

Lillian was predeceased by Joseph and Anna Carey, Hans and Margaret Christensen, Donald Christensen, John and Carolyn Ball, Annabel Healey, and Michael Christensen many more family and friends.

The family would like to thank the Merrimack Valley Hospice Care and house Haverhill, Ma. for giving Mom a week of comfort and dignity.

Mom are you OK?? Yes I’m OK!!!!!!!

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday morning at 11:30 AM in Saint Michaels Church in North Andover with burial to follow in Ridgewood Cemetery.

Friends may pay their respects on Friday from 2-4 & 6-9 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street Methuen.
