Angelina Maria (Costigliola) DeAngelo passed on to her heavenly life on Jan 1, 2013. She was born on April 12, 1915 in Pozzuoli, Italy to Sophia and Francesco Costigliola, one of 12 children. She was married to her beloved Alfredo Iardino, who was killed shortly after marriage during WWII in Italy. She went on to raise her born child, daughter Maria Rosaria with whom she immigrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1947. She worked as a seamstress in New York for many years, retiring at age 73. In 1954 she married Vincent DeAngelo and together they made a family with Maria Rosaria and three children Debra, Vincent, and Catherine. Along with her husband Vincent, they created a lively home full of food, family, and friends.
Angelina loved to cook, travel and spend time with her family. She lived a spirited life of resiliency and faith. She was generous to all and devoted to her children and grandchildren. She spent 8 years living in Merced, California, playing an active role her son Vincent’s Italian restaurant where she made many good friends and enjoyed many trips to Monterey, Napa, and San Francisco. She returned to the east coast settling in Worcester, MA with her daughters where she enjoyed trips to the North End of Boston, Maine waterfront, attending St. Leonard’s Church, and cooking. She leaves 7 grandchildren, William Jr., Tom, Dan, Tony, Sharlee James, and Megan; two great grandchildren, Azure and Harley; her children Rosemarie (William) Highlands, Vincent (Tracey), Debra DeAngelo, and Catherine (Bob) Mulvey. She is survived by her siblings, Victor Costigliola and Anna Viceconte of Long Island, NY, Ralph Costigliola of PA, and Clara Martiello of Florida. We would like to thank the Rose Monahan Hospice Home for the gentle and supportive care they provided her Angelina and her family in her last hours.
The funeral is Friday, January 4th with a Mass at 2:00 P.M. in St. Paul’s Cathedral, 15 Chatham Street. Entombment will be Saturday, January 5th in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island, NY. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, VNA Care Network and Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
