Obituary

Carmine T. Colella of Somerville died Sunday in the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 86.

Born and raised in Boston’s North End, he was the son of the late Angelo and the late Grace (DeSantis) Colella. A talented ball player Carmine played professionally with the St. Louis Browns organization. Carmine owned the Sumner Poultry Co. in Boston and supplied products to some of Boston’s finer restaurants. He was a member of the Escoffier Culinary Society, the St. Anthony Club in the North End and the Arlington Retired Men’s Club.

Carmine was a devoted family man and shared 62 years of marriage with his wife Ann (Cotillo) Colella. He was a devoted father to Carmine Colella and his wife Linda, Lawrence Colella and Christopher Colella. He was a loving grandfather to Nicole and Michelle and also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will be private.
