Mary Ann E. (Burke) Simmons, 73, of Medway, passed away peacefully at home in the loving care of her family on Sunday, December 30, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Richard J. Simmons who died in 1974.
Born in Waltham on October 18, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Anna F. (Greeley) Burke.
Mrs. Simmons grew up in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School. She had been a resident of Medway for over 40 years.
Before her retirement, Mary Ann worked at Natick Labs for several years.
Mrs. Simmons was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Parish in Medway. She was an avid New England sports fan who especially loved her Red Sox. She enjoyed many trips to Ireland and family vacations on Cape Cod.
She is survived by her children, Anne Merritt and her husband William of Oxford, Richard Simmons of Medway, and Katie Heffernan and her husband PJ of Grafton. She is also survived by her brother William Burke and his wife Maura of Andover. Mary Ann also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Brian, Kevin, Sean, Patrick, Eilish, Mary and Juliette.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 4 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St., Medway. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Needham.
