TEWKSBURY - Edward S. Cianci, age 65, the founder and owner of American Motorcycle Supply in Tewksbury, died peacefully on Monday, December 31, at his home surrounded by his beloved family, after a courageous two year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Lois Antonette “Toni” (Ray) Cianci, with whom he had celebrated a 34th wedding anniversary this past September 10th.
Eddie was born in Somerville, October 4, 1947, the only child of the late Salvatore and Mary (Ianuzzi) Cianci, and was raised in Somerville. He joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and served as a Radio Station Manager at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He later earned an Associates Degree in Broadcasting from Graham Junior College in Boston. Ed began his working career at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory. While still at Draper, he founded American Motorcycle Supply in Tewksbury, which would prosper, and allow him to leave Draper after 25 years of service. He owned and operated his motorcycle business for the past 25 years, which also brought him the pleasure of many long lasting friendships.
Eddie was a lifelong Harley-Davidson enthusiast, and enjoyed motorcycle flea markets, Laconia Bike Weeks, Tuesday Bike Nights on the Boulevard in Lowell, and both short and long destination rides with his friends. In general, Ed loved all things Harley. He also loved antique autos, and recently attended his 1st Barrette-Jackson antique auto auction in Las Vegas.
Besides his beloved wife Toni, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jesse S. Cianci of Cambridge, and Edward J. Cianci and his wife Belynda (Nelson) Cianci of Lowell, who gave birth to his first grandchildren, triplets, born on October 16, Ruby, Autumn, and Henry. He shared an especially deep bond with his family and several dear friends.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday,January 5, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury, followed by Army Honors. The family has established the Ed Cianci Memorial Fund for the benefit of his grandchildren. Gifts can be sent in his honor to TD Banknorth, 995 Main St, Tewksbury 01876.
