Frances Henry Meister, age 90, of Groton Long Point, died peacefully at home Saturday December 22, 2012

Born May 31, 1922 in Staten Island, NY. Spent her youth in Staten Island until she moved to Englewood, NJ with her husband and four children. They lived in Englewood before moving to Upper Saddle River where they resided for over 30 years, before retiring to Groton Long Point, Ct in 1986.

She was employed as a legal secretary and also volunteered in the Upper Saddle River Ambulance Corps. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir and held volunteer positions with the Noank Baptist Church at the group home and congregate living facilities.

Her retirement years were spent sailing on the Long Island Sound, enjoying the company of her neighbors in the local sewing group, taking daily walks around the “Point” and gardening in the backyard. Some of her fondest memories were spent with her family and friends at their house on the shore where everyone chipped in for DIY projects, hosting big family gatherings and meals and organizing sailing adventures. Frances was beloved by all, and was sensitive to the needs of the downtrodden. She will be missed by all.

She is predeceased by her first husband Herbert Henry of over 45 years and her second husband Almon Meister of over 15 years.
