Marie A. “Chickie” Sammarco, a longtime Medford resident died peacefully at the Winchester Hospital. She was 82.
Born and raised in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Vito and the late Clara (Galante) Matarese. For 63 years she worked as an office manager for Kaman Industries. A wonderful friend to many, Chickie enjoyed regular workouts at the gym. Even though she had such a long career with one firm, she was primarily dedicated to her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
The beloved wife of the late Domenic Sammarco, she was a devoted mother to Cheryl Sammarco Moran of Medford. Chickie leaves her loving grandchildren: Nicholas, Daniel and Kasey. She was a dear sister to Concetta "Tina" Puppa, Clara Clemeno, Ann Porcaro all of Medford, the late Vincent and Joseph Matarese and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, Monday morning, December 31st from 8:30 thru 10 followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St. Medford at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
