Mrs. Edward L. Brule, age 93, died Friday, December 28, at the Winchester Hospital after a very brief illness. The husband of the late Mildred (Arrigo).
Born and raised in Rhode Island, Edward was the devoted son of the late Mary Jane (Emery) and David Brule. Edward was Winchester resident for the last 50 plus years, formerly of Warren, Rhode Island. After graduating high school, Ed joined the United States Army proudly serving from October 1940 to June 1945. He traveled all around Europe and beyond, serving in Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. Ed was a heavy machine gunner and was the recipient of the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medals.
Upon returning to the United States, Ed trained to be a finished carpenter. Working for many years with C. B. Westgate Builders of Winchester and in retirement years the Winchester Country Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf, and was a lover of all animals, especially his many dogs. Ed also raised a couple of raccoons until they were able to be released on their own. Ed also enjoyed his yearly trips to Key West, FL.
Edward is survived by his niece Maureen Buckley and her husband Kevin of Woburn and great uncle to Brittany and Jennifer Buckley. He is also survived by many other loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. . He was predeceased by three brothers; David L., Leo H. and Ambrose Brule, two sisters; Yvonne Blank and Rita Soboleski.
Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Monday December 31st at 10:30 am. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St. Winchester at 11:30 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be at the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home, Sunday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
