Obituary

Marilyn (Finn) Martin, of Somerset, transitioned into rest on December 27, 2012 at home with her children and loved ones by her side. She was the wife of the late Thomas Martin and the daughter of the late Henry and Ellen (Pillmear) Finn. Marilyn was a homemaker, a college graduate and worked various jobs. Prior to retiring Marilyn worked as a Home Health Aide for Bristol Elders. She was a member of the “Red Hat Society” and enjoyed the Tiverton Senior Citizens Club.
Marilyn was an engaging and strong-minded woman, a loving mother and dedicated and loyal sister and friend. Marilyn loved to travel, spend days at the beach, or just by the pool. She was an avid swimmer and could be often found swimming at the YMCA pool. Her passion was shopping; either for value at yard sales or retail stores discount rack. Marilyn was creative and had an eye for fashion and with it she a terrific seamstress and hairdresser for family and friends. She was an artist in both painting and drawing as well as an amateur poet. Her writings expressed a yearning spirituality for truth and a key to unconditional love. A strong independent woman her instincts were forged from the hardships of her youth. She is loved and survived by her children: Glenn Martin (wife Edith) of St. Petersburg, FL, Scott Martin of Somerset, Ross Martin of Kissimmee, FL, Lisa Martin of Somerset, Heidi Hebert (husband Louis) of Somerset, and Todd Martin (wife Beth) of Swansea; siblings: Elliott Finn of Meredith, NH and Judith Strom of Framingham; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; & several nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Richard, Henry, & Patricia Finn.

A special thank you to all of Marilyn’s Caregivers & the Volunteers that contributed and assisted the family in caring for her. We are grateful for your love for her and for sharing the experience of her life and her tenacity to live life to its fullest.
