Obituary

Joseph A. "Ziggy" Boucher, 74, of Fairhaven died Tuesday June 29, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Bertha Y. (Chandler) Boucher; they had been married for 53 years.

Born in New York City, the son of the late Sarah (Gregoire) Boucher, he lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven for most of his life.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.

Mr. Boucher was formerly employed as a mason for the Bricklayers and Masons Union, Local 3 for 47 years until his retirement.

Mr. Boucher was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods. He loved to putter around his house and shed and always had a project to work on for himself and others.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Diane Sanders of New Bedford and Janice-Ann Lefebvre of Wareham; a son, Norman Boucher of Fairhaven; a brother, Nappy Boucher of Florida; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Marcel Boucher.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd, Route 6, Mattapoisett Friday July 2, 2004 at 8:45 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday July 1, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140 or St. Joseph's Church Building Fund, 41 Walnut St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
