Nellie Ruth Ellis Mann, 94, of Ocilla, Georgia died Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Ocilla Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Dowdle officiating. The interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Mann was born January 18, 1918 in Whitesburg, Georgia, to the late Dr. Samuel Burton Ellis and Etta Louise Daniel Ellis. She graduated from Pitts High School in Pitts, Georgia. She was a former resident of Valdosta, Georgia and moved to the Ocilla community in 1944. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed needlepoint, china painting and playing pool. She was a member of the Ocilla Sewing Club, Ocilla Garden Club, and Bridge Club and she also served on the benevolence committee at the Ocilla Baptist Church, where she was a member.
She is survived by her son: Raymond Lee Mann, Jr. “Ray” and Pam Mann of Ocilla, Georgia; two grandsons: R. Lee Mann, III and Sheila Carroll Mann of Atlanta, Georgia and Dr. Tom Mann and Natalie Durden Mann of Fitzgerald, Georgia; five great-grandchildren: Allison Mann, Will Mann, Raylee Mann, Daniel Mann and Analee Mann. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond Lee Mann, Sr., three brothers and two sisters.
