Virginia L. (Morrissey) Brooks, 89, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012. She was the wife of the late Howard Brooks.
Born in Beverly on Feb. 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Louise (Boudrot) Morrissey. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School, Class of 1940.
Ginny had been employed as a clerk at the former Hunt Memorial Hospital, and also at CBS Hytron and Unex.
A lifelong Danvers resident, she was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church where she coordinated the lectors for many years. She was a member of Our Lady’s Sodality, the Danvers Art Association, and the League of Women Voters.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Connors and her husband Paul of Randolph and Patricia Swindell of Beverly, five grandchildren, Loren and Michael Swindell and Patrick, Erin, and Kevin Connors, five great-grandchildren, Madison, Jake, Casey, Jesse, and Riley, and her brothers and sister, Neil Morrissey of AZ, Robert Morrissey of FL, Kevin Morrissey of ME, and Barbara Hines of FL, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Brooks, and her siblings Martin, Richard, Stanley, Paul, James, and David Morrissey and Joan Enos.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at 11AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
