Rita L. Castonguay age 93 of Salem, died Wednesday morning, December 26, 2012 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph Castonguay.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Arsene and Georgianna (Beaulieu) Bosse. Rita worked in the medical field, first as a technical assistant in the Salem Hospital operating rooms and later as a nurse’s aid for the hospital. She retired with over 35 years with the Salem Hospital. Following her retirement, Rita volunteered at the Salem Council on Aging in the Meals on Wheels program for the past 17 years.
Rita was a friendly, hard working woman who was devoted to her family and her extended family. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish of Salem for many years as well as a member of Les Dames de la Ste. Famille.
She is survived by her daughter, Claire M. Blanchette of Salem, two grandchildren, Timothy Castonguay of New Hampshire and Nicole Castonguay of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Henri Castonguay, her brothers Rosario and Arthur Bosse and her sister Lydia Thibodeau.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 8:00 AM to be followed by her funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 9:00 AM. A committal service will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours in the funeral home will be on Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
