Joseph J. David, 48, of New Bedford died March 1, 2002 at home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Alice Eve (Read) David and son of Malvina (Gabriel) David of New Bedford and the late John J. David.
Mr. David was born in New Bedford and lived in New Bedford most of his life. He had lived in Waltham for 9 years before returning to New Bedford.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Church in New Bedford and Chapel of the Holy Innocence in Waltham.
Mr. David was formerly employed as a Human Resource Specialist at the Walter Fernald Developmental Center in Waltham for several years until his retirement 3 years ago. He had previously worked at the Paul A. Dever School in Taunton. He was a member of the Walter Fernald Association.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, McMahon Council, and served as the Past District Deputy.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; a step-daughter, Suzanne E. Smith of Plymouth; a step-son, Peter D. Smith of Washington, DC; a brother, Anthony David, and his wife Judith David, of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Joann David and Lorraine David, both of New Bedford; a niece, Jordan Hope David of New Bedford; several aunts, uncle and cousins.
