Donald C. Dick Sr., 82, who was a retired mechanical engineer for Damon Labs in Needham, died Tues June 29, 2004 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham Campus.Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada, he graduated from Brookline High School in 1938 and received a degree from the Lowell Institute, MIT night school. He worked for MIT and was assigned to the Manhattan Project and later worked for Concord Controls. Don worked for Damon Labs for over 18 years retiring 12 years ago. He had lived in Needham for 41 years and had been a longtime faithful member of the Needham Presbyterian Church. He served in many capacities at the church including being the chairman of the original building fund, an Elder and superintendent of the Sunday school.He was also a member of the Needham Retired Men’s Club.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Katherine (Stewart) Dick, his children and their spouses James F. Dick and his wife Donna of Swanzey, NH, Stewart J. Dick and his wife Kathy of Westford, Donald C. Dick, Jr. and his wife Adriene of Needham, and Gordon M. Dick and his wife Nancy of Millbury; his sister Barbara Dick of Needham and 11 grandchildren. He was the father of the late Donna K. Dick and brother of the late Lt. Frank M. Dick, USAF.A funeral service will be held on Fri July 2 at 11 AM in the Needham Presbyterian Church 1458 Great Plain Ave Needham. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery West Roxbury. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham on Thurs from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.Memorials, in lieu of flowers may be made to the Donna K. Dick Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O.
