Obituary

Mildred M. (Costello) Silva, of Manomet (Plymouth), died on December 21st at Jordan Hospital, at the age of 86. Mildred was the beloved wife of the late Richard E. Silva. She is survived by her daughters, Sue Ellen (Silva) Rogal, of Danvers, and Nancy (Silva) Franks, and her husband, Eben, of Bourne. She also leaves her granddaughter, Liz Rogal, and Liz’s fiancé, Jim Rooney, of Beverly Farms; her sister-in-law, Joan M. Silva, of Taunton; her brother-in-law, George E. Silva, and his wife, Helena, of Berkley; many nieces and nephews; and her Manomet friends.
Mildred was born in Attleboro and moved to Taunton with her husband in 1952. They spent their summers in Manomet, before moving there permanently in 1979. She was the first female member of the City of Taunton Planning Board, and later served on the Manomet Village Steering Committee. Mildred was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. She read the Boston Globe from cover to cover every day, enjoyed looking out at the ocean and spending time with her family.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 27th at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd. (Rt. 3A), Plymouth (Manomet) from 4 to 8 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 28th at St. Bonaventure’s Church at 11 AM followed by burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
