Obituary

Clarence C. "Clay" Sturgeon age 85 of Brockton, died Saturday December 22, 2012 at the Braemoor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Cecilia R. (Remondi) Sturgeon. Clarence was born, raised and educated in Jamaica Plain, a son of the late Charles and Mary (McMullen) Sturgeon and had been a resident of Brockton for the past 12 years.

During the Korean Conflict he had served in the US Army. Clarence retired as a mechanic from the City of Boston traffic division after over 30 years of service. In his free time he enjoyed reading and listening to the Bible and spending time with his family.

Clarence was the father of Linda A. Barraza of Milton, Mark S. Sturgeon of Mattapan, Deborah M. McKay of Braintree, Doreen E. Fisher of Norwell, James M. Sturgeon of Brockton, Cecilia A. Abruzzese of Norwell, Andrea J. Johnson of Hanover, Clay D, Sturgeon of Dorchester and the late Lawrence C. Sturgeon. He also leaves 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sisters Mildred Albanese, Evelyn Sturgeon and a brother Charles J. Sturgeon.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 5-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in New England Baptist Church 560 N. Main St., West Bridgewater on Friday at 10 am. Private family burial will be held in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
