New Bedford – Robert E. Reynolds, Jr., 82, of Church Street, New Bedford died Monday, June 28, 2004 at home. He was the widower of the late Josephine M. (Szczupak) Reynolds and the husband of Evelyn M. (Medeiros) Reynolds.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Robert E. and Helen M. (Beggs) Reynolds, and had resided in the Dartmouth and Westport area for many years prior to moving to New Bedford. He was a United States Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a senior correctional officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Sword of Bunker Hill – Gaspee Order #99 of Providence, RI. , the Fleet Reserve Association, V.F.W. Post 5392 of Tiverton, RI, and was a former member of V.F.W. Post 8502 of Westport. He served as Past Master and was a life member of the Noquochoke Lodge AF & AM, member of the Scottish Rite’s and the York Rite’s and was past commander of the D.A.V. Post 118 of Westport.
Including his wife he is survived by 2 sons: Robert E. Reynolds III of Tiverton, RI and Jeffrey E. Reynolds of Westport; a sister: Dorothy Brady of Toms River, NJ; 5 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
