Obituary

BRUNEAU, Norman A. of South Yarmouth formerly of Natick, passed away on December 22, 2012, at the age of 96. He was the beloved husband of 73 years to Emily V. (Badalucco) Bruneau. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late John and Abbygale (Murphy) Bruneau. Devoted father of Beverly A. Kirby and her late husband Warren of Winthrop and Linda J May and her husband Paul of Natick; dear brother of the late John Jr. and Thomas F. Bruneau; adored grandfather of Warren, David, Julie Ann, and Matthew Kirby and Brad and Brian Mullens. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Norman was a Tool and Die Maker for Fenwall Industries in Ashland, retiring in the late 70s after, 35 years. He worked on special government projects including the Apollo Rocket and the Space Shuttle program. He was a man of precision and order. He had a deep loyalty for his family and friends especially for the love of his life, Emily. Norman loved music and loved to sing and for many years was a member of an Acapala Choir where his baritone voice rang true. He also enjoyed dancing around the old bandstand, especially with his wife Emily. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could tell a great story, which would always grab a room’s attention. His favorite pastime of all though, was fishing. For many years, at the summer cottage on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, he trolled the lake for the ultimate catch. In 1972, he caught, (at that time), a record 36 ½ inch Lake Trout, which he had mounted and had hung on the wall. But he still believed that the “Great One” was out there. All of his grandchildren will remember the sun rise mornings they had shared with “Papa” fishing and trolling the lake, and listening to his learned advice. He always lived with hope in his heart and had a deep faith in God. A Funeral Mass was held in St. Patrick’s Church 44 East Central St. Natick, on Dec. 27, at 10am. Interment was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick. Donations in his name can be made to the Visiting Nurse Assn. of Cape Cod 255 Independence Dr. Hyannis, MA. 02601.
