Peter H. Smyth, Sr., 68, of Worcester died Friday, December 21st in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus with his family by his side. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Kathryn (Wilson) Smyth; his three children, a son, Peter H. Smyth, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Edgartown, MA; a daughter, Heather A. Smyth; his youngest son, Thomas C. Smyth of Worcester; a brother, Christopher M. Smyth of Bethlehem, PA; two granddaughters, Shealyn Heather and Jocelyn Sage Smyth of Edgartown MA who were the light of his life. He was predeceased by his sister, Sally Mengel of Houston, Texas.
He was born in Bethlehem, PA son of Byrd Edwards Smyth and Doris (Smith) Smyth. Peter graduated from Wolfeboro Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire and New England School of Accounting in Worcester. Mr. Smyth worked for over 32 years as a shipping clerk at Stop and Shop Co., retiring in 2004. Peter worked part time as an Associate at Wal-Mart for the past four years until his passing. He was a member at Blessed Sacrament Church, a former member of St. Charles of Borromeo Church. Peter volunteered for the past few years at St. Paul’s Food Pantry.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 29th with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street (Please go directly to church). There are no calling hours.
