CONCORD: Robert J. Condon, 88, died peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Rivercrest Long Term Care Facility following a brief illness.
He was born at his home in Somerville on July 25, 1924 the son of the late Timothy J. Condon and Mae (Jordan) Condon.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Gloria (Savage) Condon of Concord, formerly of Wayland; daughter Gail C Heald and her husband Guy E Heald III of Chatham and sons Robert J. Condon Jr. and his wife Melinda of Peterborough, NH, Guy M. Condon predeceased him in November 2000. He was grandfather of Ryan R D Heald of Back Bay, Boston; Guy E. "Brooke" Heald IV and his wife Karen of Pembroke; Catherine S. Condon of Arlington, VA; Scott W. Condon of Hancock, NH; Jordan and Steve Schmidt of Richmond, VA; Mae and Christopher Carlson of Portland, OR; Anna and Ben Curtis of Rochester, NY and Glynis Condon of Reston, VA. He was great-grandfather of Lucas E. Heald and Cameron G. Heald of Pembroke and father-in-law of Linda M. Condon of Reston, VA.
Mr. Condon spent his formative years in Watertown and had been a resident of Wayland for 54 years before he and his wife moved to Newbury Court in Concord. He had a long and distinguished career of 44 years as an Engineer and Administrator at Raytheon in Sudbury. He served in the Army Air Corp as a Communications Chief in the South Pacific and earned the rank of Staff Sgt.
At the request of the family, private funeral services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial gifts in his memory may be sent to Rivercrest, Patient Activity Fund, 80 Deaconess Road, Concord, MA 01742.
