Muriel E. (Campbell) Smith 71 of 17 Siani Rd., Rochdale, a section of Leicester, died Saturday, June 26th at the Meadows of Leicester after an illness. She was the wife of Carroll D. Smith who died in 1997. She leaves two sons; Timothy M. Smith of Leicester, Ethan A. Smith of Rochdale, a daughter, Melissa A. Bowen of Spencer, a sister, Carol Jackson of Portland, Oregon, 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son, Andrew J. Smith in 1967.Born in Warwick, R.I., she was the daughter of Clarence & Cecile (Foss) Campbell and has lived in Leicester and Rochdale most of her life. Mrs. Smith was previously a bookkeeper for two years at Tsuga Tree & Nursery in Rochdale. She was a member of Greenville Baptist Church in Rochdale and was active with the Woman's Christian Fellowship and was a member of the Mission Board for many years as well as teaching Sunday school, she also sang in the church choir. She was a volunteer for the Leicester F.I.S.H. program and she enjoyed playing the piano and the violin.A funeral service will be held, Thursday, July 1st at 11 a.m. in the Greenville Baptist Church, 684 Pleasant St., Rochdale. Burial will follow in Greenville Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers.
