Roy E. Howell, 55, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla, with Rev. Huey Nichols and Rev. Pat Hogan officiating. Interment will follow at New Valley Grove Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 Monday evening.
Mr. Howell was born December 27, 1948, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Velma Myrick and E. Grady Howell. He was a graduate of McArthur High School in Hollywood, Florida. A former resident of Dade County, Florida, Mr. Howell moved back to Ocilla in 1990. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam war where he received the Purple Heart. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Irwin County Road Department. He was a carpenter in Florida for many years, building high rise buildings. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Howell is survived by his wife: Beverly Howell of Ocilla; 3 Stepdaughters: Annissia Byrd, Vicky Carter, and Rhonda Willis all of Pelham, GA: 1 Sister: Jacquelyn Dorta of Juniper, Florida; 15 Grandchildren, 2 Nephews and 1 Niece.
