Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Eugenia M. “Jennie” (Tessicini) Choiniere, 85, of the Jennie Lane Apartments (which were named after her) in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday December 18, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life at her daughter’s home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on January 5, 1927 a beloved daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Saracino) Tessicini. She was raised in Agawam and attended Agawam schools. She had lived on Hungry Hill for many years and had later lived in Zephyr Hills, FL before returning here for the past ten years. She had worked at the Sears Department Store at the Eastfield Mall in Springfield for 23 years and retired as the coffee shop manager. After her retirement, she was appointed Resident Commissioner of the Springfield Housing Authority by Mayor Charles Ryan and later reappointed by Mayor Domenic Sarno. She was a communicant of the former Saint Mary Church in East Springfield which is now Mary, Mother of Hope Church. She had served as President of the Jennie Lane Apartments Association and was a member and former Vice President of the Carew Street Golden Age Club in Springfield. Known for her love of Frank Sinatra, she was a dear woman who showered her family with love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Norman A. Choiniere who was Called Home on September 6, 1994. They were married on April 7, 1947 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 47 years of happiness together. She was also predeceased by her loving daughter, Mary A. Bedinelli who was Called Home on March 17, 2008; her two dear brothers, Guido and Dominic Tessicini; and her four dear sisters, Pearl Bonfitto, Violet LaCroix, Rita Laforce and Irene Falkenwitz. She leaves her two loving daughters, Linda C. Mumblo and Jean I. Ryan and her husband, Robert, all of Springfield; her loving son in law, Ernest Bedinelli of Florida; her eight cherished grandchildren, Tony Bedinelli, Christopher Bedinelli and his wife, Chrissy, Kristie LaRosa and her husband, Mike, Michael Bedinelli, Keith Mumblo and his wife, Shannon, Julie Waite and her husband, Steve, Patrick Ryan and his wife, Denice, and David Ryan; her nine cherished great grandchildren, Andrew Strange, Ana, Mike and Cynthia Bedinelli, Evan and Abigail Mumblo, Maya Waite, and Jayden and Courtney Ryan; her dear brother, Salvatore Tessicini and his wife, Barbara of Trinity, FL; her many dear nephews and nieces; and her many dear friends. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning December 22, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (funeral home will open at 10:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday December 21, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Brightside for Families and Children, Fund Development Office, 2112 Riverdale Street, West Springfield, MA 01089-1099 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
