Walter F. Barry of Readville passed away on December 17, 2012. He was 76 years old. Born and raised in Roslindale, Walter was a graduate of Boston Technical High School where he was an excellent trombone player and commander of the band. As a young man, he also played in the Holy Name Band and in the Royal Harmonians. Walter traveled all over the United States as owner of Empire Transport in Boston for 40 years. A mechanic and truck driver, he enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. Walter was a member of the American Legion Post 18 in Dedham.
Walter was the dear and devoted husband of Barbara (Rampino). Loving father of Walter J. Barry II of Readville, Karen Capobianco and her husband Nicholas of Dedham and Maryann Lee of Roslindale. Cherished “Gramps” of Anthony, Steven, Richard, Jonathan, Chris, the late Michael and 5 great-children. Dear brother of Mary Woodworth of Tewksbury, Robert Barry of GA, Helen Barry of Brant Rock, Barbara Neelon of Bellingham, Alice Keefe of Green Harbor and the late Kathleen Capone. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Name Church on December 21, 2012.
