Josephine T. “Josie” (Sampieri) DeJoie passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the Elmhurst Golden Living Center in Melrose after a brief illness. She was 85 years old.
Born in Malden, Josie was a life long resident of the Edgeworth section of Malden for many years. She worked for Hood Rubber Co. and J. M. Fields for 20 years. She was also a member of St. Peters Parish.
Josie was the devoted wife of 56 years to Richard “Dick” DeJoie and the daughter of the late Lillian (Brandano) and Ralph Sampieri. She was the beloved mother of Diane DeJoie of California and her companion Endre Barath. Josie is also survived by one aunt, Florence Brandano and her brother-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and long time loving friends.
The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Friday, December 21st at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main Street, Malden at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday, December 20th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
