Eleanor M. "Ellie" (Bowden) McLaughlin, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Monday, December 17, 2012 at her home in Charlestown following a lengthy illness with cancer. She was 65 years old.
Eleanor was born in Boston on June 2, 1947, a daughter of the late Edward Bowden and Anna (Doherty) Bowden. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School. Eleanor worked as a coordinator for Bingham & McCullen Law Firm for over 27 years.
Eleanor is the beloved wife of 45 years to William E. McLaughlin. She is the devoted mother of Christine Fitzpatrick and her husband James, Colleen McLaughlin and the late William E. McLaughlin Jr. She is the loving Nana to Jimmy, Ryan, Braden, Jeremia, Frankie, Pattric, Pattria, Brenna, Adam and great-Nana to Kayla and Teagan. She is the beloved sister of James Bowden and the late Anna Brennan, Edward Bowden Jr. and John Bowden. She is the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eleanor's Funeral on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
