SALEM- John Romanow, 94, of Salem, husband of the late Clara (Helinski) Romanow, died Saturday morning, June 26, 2004 at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home, Salem, following a short illness.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Sume) Romanow and was a resident of Salem for most of his life.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years in the leather industry at various leather companies in Salem and Peabody.
A Navy veteran of WWII, he served in the Asiatic - Pacific Theater as a member of the Seabees and attained the rating of Motor Machinist Mate Second Class.
He is survived by one sister-in-law, Barbara Helinski of Lynn and several nieces and nephews. He was the bother of the late Edwarsd Romanow and Annie Piotrowski.
His graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 10 am at the Puritan Lawn Memorial park, Peabody, with a time for visitation prior to the service, from 8:30 to 9:30 am at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem.
