Eugenia J. (Pires) DaCosta, 64, of New Bedford died December 16, 2012 at Alden Court Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Antonio D. DaCosta.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of Laura (Lomba) Pires of Fairhaven and the late Julio Pires, she lived in New Bedford since 1967.
Mrs. DaCosta was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
She was employed by Alden Court Nursing Home for 23 years.
Mrs. DaCosta enjoyed shopping. She was loved by many and she will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her husband; her mother; 6 brothers, Jose Pires and Silvino Pires and his wife Lucy, all of New Bedford, Marcelino Pires and his wife Jeannie of Seekonk, Manny Pires and his wife Luisa and John Teixeira and his wife Filomina, all of Cranston, RI and Alvaro Cabral of Cape Verde; 5 sisters, Maria Mendes and her husband Danny of East Bridgewater, Ana St. Pierre and her husband Wilfred of Florida, Madeline Pires of New Bedford and Mina Stafini and Ana Aumillir, both of California; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Thursday, December 20th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, December 19th from 4-8 PM.
