Obituary

Worcester: Paul G. Carlson, 70, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at UMASS Medical Center University Campus. He leaves his loving wife of 43 years, Linda (Bird) Carlson, a daughter Lori and her husband Matthew Conlon of NY; a son Kurt and his wife Stacey Carlson of Worcester; 3 grandchildren- Zachary Conlon, Alexis and Travis Carlson; 2 brothers Roger and his wife Marilyn, and Dennis and his wife Carolyn all from Hopkinton; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Paul was born in Worcester, son of Carl O. and Gurli I. (Swenson) Carlson. He graduated from Boys Trade High School, and served his country in the U. S. Navy. He worked as a machinist for several companies, including Kinefac, Worcester Wire and G.F. Wright Wire. He then worked making parts for 1930 Indian Motorcycles. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where he served as an usher. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, traveling, and making raspberry wine. He was always working on projects at home, his summer camp and at his children’s homes. “Papa” took great pride in his children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2012. All are welcome to attend a 10 a.m. graveside service at All Faiths Cemetery, 9 Island Road, Worcester. Following the burial, an 11 a.m. memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church (bowling alley),114 Main St., Worcester, MA or to Geneva Point Center, 108 Geneva Point Road, Moultonborough, NH, 03254. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
