Lucy Ann Sherman, 82, of New Bedford died Friday June 25, 2004 at the Oaks Nursing Home.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Philip and Hilda (Sullivan) Sherman, she lived in New Bedford for all of her life. Like her parents and grandparents, she was a lifelong communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Miss Sherman was formerly employed by the New Bedford Free Public Library and was the librarian in charge at the Buttonwood Park branch for several years until her retirement.
After her retirement, she was a volunteer at Birthright. For many years she was active in the Cursillo prayer groups.
Survivors include three sisters, Elizabeth Noble of South Dartmouth, Ruth Sherman, and her husband David Belliveau, of Lawrence, and Phyllis Paquin and her husband William, of Bristol, Conn.; her sister-in-law, Mary Sherman of New Bedford; several loving nieces and nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was the sister of the late Dennis Sherman and Mary Gilmore, and sister-in-law of the late Roy Noble.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Monday June 28, 2004 at 10 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 11 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday June 27, 2004 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
