Obituary

Phyllis Manderson Webster was born on January 13, 1953 to the late Percival and Ivy May (Lalor) Webster in Balaclava (St. Elizabeth) Jamaica, West Indies. She attended St. Gabriel, Windward Road (primary) and then Gainstead. In 1970, Phyllis moved to the United States to finish high school in Brooklyn, NY where she attended Erasmus Hall. Upon graduation, she enrolled in Hunter College where she studied sociology.

In 1974, Phyllis met Eddie Muldrow and wed three years later on August 20, 1977. In the same year, she began her tenure at the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (now known as The New Meadowlands Racetrack LLC).

In 1980, their first child, Sheldon Brenard was born. Later in 1981, their second child, Shanene Elizabeth was born.

Phyllis was very active in her children’s sports activities. She enjoyed watching basketball, softball and creating costumes for school occasions.

Phyllis is a Kappa Silhouette. When Eddie started to become ill, Phyllis lovingly became his caregiver till his passing on November 16, 2003.

Phyllis was very instrumental in pushing her children to pursue higher education. She supported both of them through medical school (Sheldon) and grad school (Shanene) which they completed in 2010.

When Phyllis was diagnosed with cancer in late August of 2012, her children and relatives became her caregiver.

On December 13, 2012 the lord called her home to be with her husband and parents.

She is survived by her two children, Sheldon and Shanene. Her sisters, Gloria, Ann Patricia, Winsome and Diana. Her brother-in-laws, Donald, Clarence and Donovan, a bundle of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and loved friends.

Phyllis will always be remembered and treasured in our hearts. She was a caring, nurturing, beloved mother, who will be missed dearly. We love you Mommy.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Thursday 5-9 PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ. Funeral Service, Friday 10 AM at 1st Baptist Church of Englewood, 351 Englewood Ave, Englewood, NJ. All to meet at church. Interment to follow at Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack.
