ATTLEBORO – Vera (Eveleigh) Short, wife of the late Reverend Horatio E. P. Short, died at the Life Care Center of Attleboro on Dec. 13, 2012.
She was 87.
Born in Hampden White Bay, Newfoundland, Canada, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Osmond) Eveleigh.
Raised and educated in Canada, Mrs. Short moved to this area in 1950.
A retired nurse, she was employed by Taunton State Hospital for many years.
She retired 32 years ago.
Mrs. Short enjoyed music, especially opera, and will be fondly remembered for her dedication to her family.
Survivors include three sons, Ewart C. Short of Jupiter, FL, Horatio, E. P. Short, Jr. of Corona, CA and Duncan J. Short of Taunton; three daughters, Maxine G. Guertin of Jupiter, FL, Glynnis Y. Kennon of Rehoboth, and Marilyn A. Whipple of Jupiter, FL; a brother, Clarence Eveleigh of St. John, Newfoundland; seven grandchildren, Dr. Ann Kennon, Aaron Kennon, Andrew, Courtney, Joel and Adam Short and Robin Whipple; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the grandmother of the late Glen P. Guertin.
Services will be held at the West Dighton Christian Church, Horton St., North Dighton on Sunday, Dec. 16th at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
