Maher, Ciaran of Marshfield, beloved husband of Sandra (McQuarrie) Maher, died suddenly, on December 10, 2012. He was 50 years old. Born in County Dublin, Ireland, he was the beloved son of Una (Brady) Maher, and the late Mick Maher.
On the back of the greatest achievement of winning the All-Ireland in 1983 Ciaran soon emigrated to Boston leaving his home club Ballyboden St Endas. A lifelong member of the Shannon Blues GFC, Ciaran won several Senior championships with the club he loved. Owner and operator of Ciaran Maher Electric for more than 25 years. Ciaran was truly larger than life and will be missed by so many friends and family. He loved his country of Ireland and his home in Marshfield. Above all, Ciaran was a devoted husband and father. Besides his beloved wife of 19 years, Sandra, he will be very sorely missed by his loving children; Ethan and Jacob, his brothers Gearad Maher of County Dublin, Michael Maher and his wife Ann Tierney, of County Kildare, Donal and his wife Susanne Maher of New Zealand, and his sister Denise Maher and her husband Desmond Tracey, of County Dublin, many nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends who loved him very much.
His memorial mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Marshfield on Monday, December 17, 2012, at 11 AM.
Calling hours will be held at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St. Rte 139 in Marshfield on Sunday, December 16, 2012, from 2-6 PM.
