Worcester – Barbara L. Smith, 86, of Worcester, died on Wednesday, December 12th in the Christopher House.
Barbara was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Frederick and Irabelle (MacDonald) Smith and is predeceased by a brother Donald E. Smith. She is survived by a brother, F. Stanley Smith of Florida and many nephews and nieces including Richard and Cindi Lemovitz of Worcester and Wendy Smith of Pawtucket, RI, and many great nieces and great nephews who knew her as Auntie Bubbles.
Ms. Smith worked as a senior buyer for the Wyman Gordon Company for over 35 years. She taught candlepin bowling for many years at Thunderbird Bowling in Auburn until she was 80 years old. Barbara bowled in many leagues as well as being an instructor at the Colonial Bowling Center in Worcester and Thunderbird Bowling in Auburn. Along, with bowling, Barbara loved to travel and took many trips throughout her lifetime to all parts of the world.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 16th from 1 to 2 pm in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a funeral service to follow at 2 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Barbara may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.
