Raymond K. Miller, 92 of Anderson, died December 11, 2012 at Merry Manor, Chesterfield. Born Jan 1, 1920 in Hope, IN., he came to Anderson, with his parents at age 5 and lived in Anderson the rest of his life. Ray married the love of his life, the former Miss Betty Miller on April 13, 1948. They enjoyed 64 years together. They have two sons, Ross Miller of Lakeland, FL and Don & Jean (Ledbetter) Miller of Norman, OK; Six grandchildren Aimee Miller, Kansas City, MO, Cory & Jeremy Miller, Anderson, IN; Wendy and Michael Calvert, of Oklahoma City, OK , Carly & Nick Miller, Norman, OK; four great-grandchildren, Asher-Ray Miller-Burnett, Kansas City, MO, Maisey Jai Calvert, Oklahoma City, OK , Addison McKay Viravong and Keaton Ray Viravong of North Palm Beach, FL.
Three surviving siblings; two brothers, Philip (Goog), wife Beulah of Daleville; Richard M. Miller of Anderson; one sister Sara, (husband) Charles Stewart of Lakeland, FL; and sister-in-law, Margaret Miller(widow of James Miller).His twelve nieces and nephews and their families, loved holiday gatherings at Ray and Betty’s home for many years.
Ray was a member of New Horizons United Methodist Church; a Veteran of WW II. Ray was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge; and Delco Remy retiree. He was a member of the Avondale Sympathy Club for many years. He was an avid sports spectator, especially baseball and basketball; he played golf into his eighties, enjoying the game with his brothers, sons and grandsons. He also enjoyed building 3 of his own homes.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Sara Katherine (McKay) Miller; brothers, James “Jim” and William “Bill or Be-Be” and Opal Miller; two sisters and their spouses, Marjorie &Bill Montgomery, and Charlotte& Byron McCord.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 12 Noon at the Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service officiated by Revs. John Hackney and Gina Kirkland. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home 2 hours prior to the service on Saturday.
