Gerald A. Sears Sr., age 69 of Somerset passed away unexpectedly December 9, 2012. Born in Fall River, he was the husband of Janice E. (Mc Mullen) Sears for 46 years and the son of the late Anthony and Agnes (Arruda) Sears. Prior to retiring, Gerry worked for several years at Bristol Community College as the Building Maintenance Supervisor of Grounds. He started in the funeral industry working part time for the former Livery Specialist/Fall River Limousine Co. He then worked as a Funeral Assistant for several years for the Hathaway Family Funeral Homes, and currently worked alongside his son at the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. for the last 5 years. He was a US Army veteran of the Viet Nam Era.
In addition to his wife, Gerry was the father of Gerald A. Sears Jr., wife Pamela A. (Nestor) Sears of Somerset and the grandfather of Mia Lin Sears.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC 1521 N. Main St., Fall River MONDAY at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Church, South St., Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours SUNDAY 4-8 P.M.
