James A. Benjamin
Retired Boston Edison Company Trainer

TEWKSBURY: James A. Benjamin, age 72, a resident of Tewksbury for 19 years, previously of Somerville, passed away at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill on Tuesday, December 11, 2012.
He was the beloved husband of Carol M. (DeYoung) Benjamin, who passed away on April 17, 2006.
Born in Everett on July 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Earl C. Benjamin and the late Mary C. (Jeleniewski) Benjamin.
Mr. Benjamin was raised in Cambridge.
He attended St. Mary of the Annunciation Parochial Grammar School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1957. Mr. Benjamin later earned an Associate's Degree from Newbury Junior College.
From 1957 until 1960, Mr. Benjamin served in the U.S. Air Force. He was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for his active duty service.
Prior to his retirement in 1999, he was employed as a Trainer by the Boston Edison Company, where he worked for over 30 years.
He is survived by five children, Donna M. Paris and her husband Gary of Wilmington, Carolyn A. Teixeira and her husband Joseph of Derry, NH, James J. Benjamin and his wife Michelle (Grant) of Tewksbury, John M. Benjamin and his wife Judy (Comerford), and Michael J. Benjamin and his wife Debra (Wetzonis) of Malden; twelve grandchildren, Melissa A., David A., Kevin M., and Jennifer M. Paris all of Wilmington, Nicole A., Anthony J., Brittany M., and Ashley S. Teixeira all of Derry, NH, Zachary M. and Nicholas J. Benjamin, Katherine C. and Julia M. Benjamin both of Malden; also many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Benjamin was the brother of the late Anthony Benjamin.
Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 14, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. Dorothy's Church, Main St., Rt. 38, Wilmington. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830.
