Bradford, Ma. – Anastasia D. (Stachalis) Scannell, 96 yrs died December 9, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Scannell was born in Lawrence December 18, 1915 and had been a longtime resident. She was the daughter of Ambrose and Katarina (Kavalyniute) Stachalis and also graduated from Lawrence High School.
Prior to its closing, Anastasia was a communicant of Saint Laurence O’Toole Church in Lawrence and was involved in the Mothers Club and the Holy Name Society of the parish. Anastasia greatly enjoyed flower gardening and baking. Together with her husband, she enjoyed dancing, vacationing at the beach and camping.
Anastasia was the widow of Terrence A Scannell; and is survived by two sons; Joseph B. Scannell and Terrence C. Scannell, Jr and his wife Judith.; four grandchildren, Melissa, Terrena, Darren, and Jeremy; three great grandchildren, Faith Joy, Ryan and Michael, Jr.; two great great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son, Jeremiah M. Scannell and her grandson, Michael T. Scannell.
At the families request there will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial to which family and friends are invited will take place on Tuesday December 18, 2012 at 11 o’clock in Saint Monica’s Church with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen, MA 01844.
