Catherine E. McGann, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully on December 10th in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 84. "Kay" as she was affectionately known to her family and friends was the beloved wife of the late Philip M. McGann. Kay was the only daughter of six children of the late Edward J. and Helen G. (Wallace) O'Connor.
Kay was raised and educated in Woburn and was a 1945 graduate of Woburn High School. Mostly devoted to caring for her children and family, Kay was also a talented seamstress, specializing in wedding gowns and prom dresses, working for many years from her home. She was also very active with her late husband and his involvement with the Woburn Host Lions Club where he served a past president and also served as a former District Governor. Together they enjoyed traveling with friends on many different Lions outings and social events. However, Kay's greatest joy was her family. Nothing made her happier than to be together with her family and dear friends.
Kay is survived by her children, Thomas McGann and wife Valentyna, Robert McGann and wife Karen, Laurie McGann and companion Chris Nolan, Maureen Garrity and husband Jack, Paul McGann and wife Kerrie, all of Woburn, Richard McGann and wife Jacqueline of Stoneham, Edward McGann and wife Ellen of Wilmington. She was the loving grandmother of Philip, Melonie and Kylee McGann, Jason Stott and his fiancé Molly Lacy, Timothy and Emily Stott, Kelly Garrity, Jennifer and Joshua McGann, Delaney, Ryan, and Flynn McGann, Lily Keating and Joseph McGann. She was the loving great grandmother of Hailey Peake and Jacob Landry. Sister of Laurence, John, James, and William O'Connor.
Along with her late husband and parents, Kay is predeceased by her son, the late David P. McGann, and her brother, the late Edward O'Connor.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, December 13th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin Dello Russo Funeral Home will be on Wednesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
