Daulton “Travis” Bennett, 74, of Lenox died Monday, December 10, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Berrien County. Rev. Ken Potts will officiate with burial to follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Cook County. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 13, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Bennett will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Bennett was born on September 23, 1938 in Berrien County and was the son of John Dalton Bennett and Ina Evelyn Sutton Bennett, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jean and Marolyn Bennett. He was a retired contractor and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Berrien County. He was a member of the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Ranch and loved golf and fishing. He also served in the United States Navy.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Laverne Fletcher Bennett of Lenox; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Debra Bennett of Lakeland, Florida; two daughters and one son-in-law, Darla Van Eerde of Plant City, Florida and Donna Lee and Johnnie Faglie of Dacula; three step-daughters, Elizabeth Tawzer of Tifton, Becky Milliones of Valdosta and Donna Jean Johnson and her husband Mark of Hahira; one brother and sister-in-law, James Lewis and Kathy Bennett of Thailand; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Tommy Fletcher of Lenox; 14 grandchildren, Hannah Bennett, Joshua Bennett, Richard Sandahl, Aja Van Eerde, Tallia Van Eerde, Rainey and Amanda Faglie, Sean Faglie, Parker Faglie, Danielle Ulm, Mary Beth Tawzer, Maddie Grace Milliones, Mark Alan Johnson and Cole Johnson; and three great-grandchildren, Genova Van Eerde, Grayson Faglie and Braelyn Faglie.
