Obituary

Arthur O. Dauphinais, 91, of 160 Winter St. died June 23, 2004 in the St. Francis Home following an extended period of failing health. He was born in Fitchburg MA on February 8, 1913, the son of William and Rosalie (Bedard) Dauphinais.

He was raised in Enfield NH, one of fifteen children in his family, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he settled in Laconia and was employed as a machinist by Scott & Williams Company until his retirement in 1975 after thirty years of service.

Mr. Dauphinais was a quiet, devoted family man who loved to read and tend his garden.His wife, Marguerite (Dunn) Dauphinais died in 1959. He was also pre-deceased by a son, Francis Dauphinais in 1975.

He was a long time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Following his retirement he worked part time for the Meals On Wheels program of the Belknap-Merrimack County Community Action Program.

Family members include two daughters, Estelle Lyons and her husband Earl Lyons of Laconia and Madeline Dauphinais also of Laconia; two sons, Eugene Dauphinais of Laconia and Philip Dauphinais of Colebrook NH; five grandchildren, Michael Lyons of Laconia, Scott Lyons of Keene, Mark Dauphinais and Monique Peistrup, both of Colebrook and Patrick Dauphinais of Lebanon; six great grandchildren, Cameron Lyons, Whitney Simmons, Madison Dauphinais, Callie Dauphinais, Shannon Peistrup and Nathan Peistrup; three sisters, Lena Dauphinais of Laconia, Theresa Lozeau of Enfield NH and Regina Dauphinais of Cheshire CT; a brother, Wilfrid Dauphinais of Enfield NH; many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. Friday from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave Saturday at 10 AM. Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor was the celebrant. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave., Laconia NH 03246. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber were the funeral directors.
