NORFOLK: Sterling William Brown, 86, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Andover on October 21, 1926 the son of the late Lloyd Brown and Euena (Little) Brown.
He is survived by his children Kenneth Brown and his wife Patricia of Norfolk, Sheila Lindsay and her husband Robert of Framingham, Thomas Brown and his wife Catherine of Milford, Edward Brown and his wife Cheryl of Franklin and Daniel Brown and his wife Tracy of Franklin. Also survived by his longtime companion Laura Ferrari of Newton, 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Brown also leaves 5 sisters and a brother who are still residing in Canada.
Sterling spent his early childhood years in New Brunswick, Canada where he was educated and came to the United States at the age of 17. He served his country proudly during World War II as a Corporal with the United States Army. Following his time in the service he moved to Montana. He later moved back east and resided in Wellesley for several years. In 1953, he moved to Framingham where he spent most of his life with his family before moving to Norfolk to be closer to his children. For many years he was a truck driver with Community Service, an oil and gas company, before retiring. Sterling enjoyed his many road trips back to Canada to spend time with his family there.
Private services will be held for his family and interment will be in the Brown family lot in Canada at the convenience of his family.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial gifts in Sterling’s memory may be sent to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St, 9th floor, Boston, MA 02108, Attn: Michael Grace.
